Malhar Machi, India

Not a fisherman’s village as the name implies, this little bit of paradise just outside Pune is the perfect distance away from Bombay. Reachable in about 4 hours by car, close to Lavasa, Malhar Machi is a little resort in the middle of nowhere. One of the few places I have visited that looks exactly like its pictures. We planned a quiet weekend with a few friends outside the city, and this turned out to be the obvious choice.

TO DO:

Sit in your little cottage, take in the view, step out for a game of table tennis, take a drive down to the lake. We spent a couple of hours down by the lake walking around.

A relaxed weekend is what you can spend here, don’t expect anything too hectic. A good idea is to carry some board games and maybe a bottle of wine.

TO KNOW:
As most places in Maharashtra this place is most beautiful around monsoon, and lovely in the winter.

TO SPEND:

We spent about USD 110 per night which was inclusive of food and any activities. Depending on the cottage you chose, costs are a bit higher or lower
